After studying the booklet one would clearly understand and appreciate the fundamentals of Islam. It should help dispel any prejudices on specific issues such as rights of women, polygamy, Jihad, equality of men of different colours, creed, ethnic background etc. It will also be appreciated that Islam is a religion of peace, not confrontation. It does not encourage fanaticism or extremism and terrorism has no place in it, as killing of a single person is considered killing of the whole humanity, and is punishable by death in this world, and much more sever punishment awaits him in the life after death.
The economic system in Islam follows the guiding principle that the wealth should flow from haves to have-nots, that their must not be any element of exploitation of the masses, and the needs of the poor section of the society have to be met by the individual Muslims as well as the Islamic state.
The Islamic system of governance is intrinsically democratic in its application. In this system, every man enjoys equal rights, he be a common labour or Khalifa, (the head of the state).
Khalifa has to be elected by majority vote. The constitution of an Islamic state has to operate within the laid tenets of Islam, and while framing any laws or rules of business nothing should be repugnant to the commandments of Allah as explained in the Holy Qur’an, and Sunnah (practices of Holy Prophet).
Islam is tolerant of other religions and freedom to follow their own faiths is fully safeguarded in an Islamic state. Their places of worships are respected and have to be protected by all the Muslims as well as the state.
I do hope the facts about Islam narrated in plain and simple words, by a Muslim, would help remove prevalent prejudices, misgivings and bias, against Islam in the minds of people who did not have a chance to learn about it from appropriate and authentic sources. |
