‘TABLIGH’ (MISSIONARY FUNCTIONS)

To spread the message of ‘Allah’ is one of the important functions of a Muslim and for this purpose it is enjoined that a Muslim must discipline his life as a true follower of the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet, and set an example for others, so that the people themselves are attracted to the faith. The example is better than a precept is the rule to follow. It is also enjoined that some of the people from every habitation should volunteer for the missionary work, go to the centers of Islamic learning, and after completing their own training spread out to propagate/and teach Islamic faith and its principles, so that the world becomes a better place to live and the hereafter more rewarding. The principle of ‘Tabligh’ is enunciated in the following verses of the Holy Book.

“There should always be among you some people who invite to what is good and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong’. (Surah 3 Aaya 104).

“And it was not required that all believers should leave their homes but why did not some people from every habitation leave their homes (to go to Mekkah, Medina, or other centres of learning) in order to understand the way of Islam and to warn their people when they return to them, so that they should refrain from un-Islamic conduct.”   (Surah 9 Aaya 122 ).

Allah promises higher reward in the hereafter for the people who engage themselves in missionary work, for the benefit of the humanity.
